Director Finance, Region West

The Director of Finance is the lead finance position for the West region of O&M’s Movianto business. The position is a key member of the region’s cross-functional leadership team, supporting the Regional VP and has a focus on driving performance and supporting commercial and operational objectives. The position works directly with regional operations, commercial and functional management. In addition, the position supports financial planning and financial reporting, including ongoing delivery of effective and efficient policies, systems, process and personnel delivering accurate and timely internal and external financial information.
This position reports to the VP Finance. The function can be based in Bedford, UK. This position requires up to 50% travelling.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the financial performance of the region through strong leadership and solid internal and external relationships. Cross-functional relationship building is required to be effective.
  • Drive the development of the finance function into a strong partnership; Provides financial staff management, motivation, training, selection/recruitment and succession planning.
  • Provide monthly management accounting information, financial statements and reports to region, European and global management.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to local management in development of budgets, forecasts, KPIs and ad hoc analysis.
  • Implement activity based costing methods to support the sales team in pricing tenders, to effectively manage costs and to report profitability on individual customers
  • Planning for investments and monitoring of capital, revenue and cost reduction projects.
  • Manage the team that provides financial insights regarding commercial and operational improvement opportunities and supports those initiatives.
  • Maintain an effective internal control framework in accordance with local statutory guidelines and in accordance with Group policy ensuring the business meets its obligations.
  • Participate in the development of the finance IT system, interfaces to other operational systems, and business data warehouse as required.
  • Keep up-to-date working knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley Act and statutory requirements and corporate governance over financial reporting ensuring adherence to all.
  • Provide financial data to insurance companies and corporate Risk Management as required. Actively supports risk management policies and improvement.

EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:

  • Recognised accounting qualification (FCCA, ACCA, FCA, ACA, or CIMA) with working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Accounting Standards (ISA); (GAAP preferred). Master’s degree preferred.
  • Accounting experience at the management level, including a minimum of three years of experience in corporate financial reporting; having demonstrated operative experience in similar environment within a commercial organisation
  • Proven know-how of local accounting and taxation standards; experience in activity based costing methods is an advantage.
