The Lead Director Corporate Operations OM Movianto Europe is responsible for the design, development, communication, and measurement of efficient and effective operational strategies, processes and services to support short and long-term business strategies. Leads OM Movianto Europe Operations including Network Support, Projects & Implementation, Innovation, Real Estate, and Transportation teams to optimize solutions that drive customer satisfaction and maximize profitability of the organization.  Ensures, through partnership with the Leads OM Movianto VPs Europe, the effective execution of operational strategy including warehousing, transportation, distribution and logistics.  Establishes consistent policies and standard operating procedures to across all OM Movianto Europe sites. Oversees implementation of enterprise-wide solutions for corporate initiatives across all regions. Assesses operational impacts resulting from new acquisitions or new partnerships and develops plans for integration of operations activities.

This position reports to the Group Director/VP and Global Operations. The function can be based in Bedford, UK or Frankfurt area, Germany. This position requires up to 70% travelling.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs development of the Operations Strategy and leverages field leadership in executing strategic operational plans that effect the distribution and transfer of products and services to customers.
  • Collaborates with the VPs Europe to evaluate the warehousing, transportation, distribution and logistics functions to identify the most efficient management of company assets, to improve service levels and establish consistent practices and standards.
  • Develops, interprets and implements policies and procedures on operations methods, processes, equipment and facilities in light of current operational needs and future strategic objectives; partners with Quality / Compliance and Lean Team on operational initiatives.
  • Collaborates with VPs Europe and Site Managers to improve operational effectiveness through refinement of business processes and implementation of consistent company policies and procedures.
  • Partners with the Finance team to review and monitor the P & L and seek opportunities to reduce costs and maximize profitability.
  • Collaborates with appropriate parties to assess operational impacts of acquisitions or partnerships and develop integration activities.
  • Partners with the International VPs on optimizing utilization of Real Estate across the network to meet current needs and future opportunities.  Identifies specific opportunities for improvements to facility design and layout to enhance efficiency.
  • Responsible for identifying and developing optimal transportation solutions for the International organization through collaboration with the Operating VP of Global Transportation. Partners to ensure the most efficient distribution supply chain to service clients while maximizing profitability.
  • Responsible for coaching and developing direct reports and the Corporate Operations team.  Identifies opportunities for teammate growth and succession planning in partnership with Human Resources.

EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar/relevant, technical and/or managerial role involving warehouse operations, inventory optimization, logistics, process improvement and teammate development.
  • Four-year undergraduate degree required, preferably in Business Administration / Operations, Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Multilingual skills; English required; one additional European language is required
  • Very strong planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze and conclude; ability to apply Six Sigma and Lean Methodologies
  • Very strong team building skills, both within and external to own department
