(Weert) Movianto, a major and experienced healthcare logistics provider dedicated to the healthcare industry, is opening a new GDP warehouse in February 2022 in Weert, the Netherlands.
Movianto Netherlands specialies in both national and international healthcare warehousing and distribution. One of their most recent missions has been the national Covid-19 vaccine logistics management on behalf of the Dutch health authorities. Movianto does much more than just vaccines, however; all provided pharmaceutical services are temperature controlled, from -80°C to controlled ambient. In addition, Movianto operates a state-of-the-art full international order to cash service, that includes complete end-to-end visibility at all levels.
Patrick Verkuijlen, Managing Director of Movianto in the Netherlands, says, “I’m happy to see that the common commitment of all Movianto’s teammates has brought considerable growth in recent years. We have been progressing on average by 30% year after year for the past 4 years. We have built a global capacity and service expansion growth plan to anticipate our client’s needs, and Weert is the next step of that plan.
Increased client demand in the Netherlands over the past year has made the larger facility a necessity. “We are going from 23.000 pallets to 34.000 pallets with the addition of this new warehouse,” says Patrick Verkuijlen. “With more space and service expansion, we can satisfy customer demand and lay the groundwork for further growth.”
Most exciting is the increase in cold storage space in Weert, with 2.800 pallet spaces dedicated to cold storage (2 to 8°C) and 600 pallet spaces dedicated to frozen storage (-27°C). This opening of Weert’s cold storage, expected in April of 2022, will ensure Movianto Netherlands can respond to the needs of healthcare manufacturers with temperature-sensitive products, which can include vaccines.
Due to their work with the Dutch health authorities in the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, Movianto Netherlands has installed Ultra Low Frozen storage, and expects to see an increase in demand for temperature-sensitive healthcare logistics across the board. They are prepared to meet this demand.
Hiring for the new location has already started. The first new local teammates, part one of a phased approach, have arrived onsite and completed their training. By the end of the year over 40 teammates will be working in Weert, with a shared management strategy with Movianto Oss to ensure continuity, high quality standards, and efficiency for clients.
Movianto Weert is strategically located in the southern part of the Netherlands, allowing international clients to benefit from the Dutch Foreign Direct Investment climate. Both the Weert facility and the current location in Oss allow for easy access to Germany, the largest market in Europe, and are also in close proximity to important air / sea ports and integrator hubs. For Movianto, this is an ideal setup to provide global as well as local services, serving any and all sales channel in the healthcare industry.
The company has worked with many suppliers in order to make sure Weert functions to a high standard of security, safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. The site will have the highest security standard (TAPA A) and has been set up in accordance with the latest Walden Corporate Social Responsibility guidelines. The facility’s main energy source is a solar farm on the roof of the building. The central heating for the office spaces is generated from the temperature control in the cool and frozen areas. These temperature control areas have also been built with the latest technologies and with respect for the environment.
The warehouse activities will be performed on Movianto’s standard Warehouse Management System (WMS). The WMS has a proven track record and is set up according to the high quality standards outlined in GDP regulations.
This is a strategic milestone for the logistics provider as it builds and strengthens long term collaborations with clients. This expansion of space reflects an expansion of services and resources at Movianto’s disposal to support the future growth of their clients. As Movianto Netherlands expands, so does the entire group, allowing the company to offer its clients access to a wide European network dedicated to healthcare products.
