Movianto wins CILT Award for Excellence in Supply Chain Innovation for work on vaccine distribution

On the evening of Thursday, March 17th, 2022, at the Royal Lancaster in London, more than 300 guests gathered to celebrate the CILT Awards for Excellence. These awards take place every year to honour “the very best individuals and organisations who have made a significant impact within the logistics and transport profession.” Among the 300 guests were 10 representatives from Movianto UK.

The logistics organisation had been selected by CILT as a finalist in the Supply Chain Innovation category, which focuses on significant, recent innovations that have led to a demonstrable transformation in the supply chain. Movianto had been selected for their innovative handling of the storage and distribution of the logistically demanding Covid-19 vaccine in the UK.

“Before we began working on it, neither a roll-out plan nor a supply chain for a vaccine that needed to be stored at -75°C existed. It had never existed, anywhere in the world. We had to start it from scratch,” explained Paul Wilkinson, President of Movianto UK.

“It was such hard work and dedication by all,” stated Cath Charles, HR Business Partner for Movianto UK.  “We delivered something really special. We saved lives!”

For their hard work and dedication to ensure the success of the Covid vaccine rollout, Movianto UK won the Supply Chain Innovation award that night, and the celebration was emotionally charged.

“From a personal perspective, the hard work, dedication and commitment of all those involved with the Covid vaccine operation was rewarded with winning the award,” said Gareth Brown, Regional Network Manager for Movianto UK. “Sadly only a handful of team members involved could be invited to the awards, but it’s due to everybody in every department who contributed that enabled Movianto to win.”

“This award is for every single Movianto teammate whose dedication and commitment has helped with the introduction and continued supply of the vaccines throughout the UK and further afield,” said Wayne Steele, Regional Head of Quality for Movianto UK.

“You forget to stop and reflect sometimes what the team at Movianto has achieved in the last 24 months,” added Cath Charles. “It has been exactly that, a team effort.”
