New Sortation Hub and Network for Movianto UK

Movianto UK is incredibly pleased to announce the opening of their new state-of-the-art sortation facility.

After 18 months of extensive planning and development, MOVIANTO UK is incredibly pleased to announce the opening of their new state-of-the-art sortation facility. The automated temperature-controlled hub will operate in both 15-25c and 2-8c. Go-Live is set for the 13th May 2022.

Centrally located in Tamworth with immediate access to the UK’s motorway network (J10 M42), this new build site will be the epicentre of Movianto’s UK network. Acting as the central hub for their network of regional distribution centres, it will also be the cross-dock for export and non-domestic consignments.

The new network will remove over 600,000 miles per annum travelled by the fleet; a first, but crucial step towards environmental sustainability. With a total of 16 distribution centres across the U.K., the company are now closer to patients than ever before. Movianto is now in a position to begin the introduction of its fully electric fleet, 2022/23 will see Movianto looking to transition up to 30 % of its fleet to electric.

During May 2022, Movianto UK will be expanding the network with the first of 2 additional distribution centres in the north of England. On the 16th May they will open the doors in Worksop (J31 M1).

On the 23rd May the second facility in Newcastle (A1/A19 junction) will open and will complete this network restructure and expansion plans for 2022.

This expansion has been developed to reduce fleet road miles and improve efficiencies in final mile deliveries.
