Acting for innovation: the role of Karine Reverdito

  • What is your role within Movianto ?

As Director of Digital Transformation at Movianto, I work with the management team to define our roadmap for the implementation of digital tools, with the aim of helping our employees in their day-to-day work and adding value to the services provided to our customers. I’m involved in developing tomorrow’s technologies to ensure that our distribution chain is ever more reliable and secure. Optimising our processes should also enable the company to continue to grow in a sustainable way, while optimising its profitability strategy.

I’m also responsible for managing our IT partnership with Walden Digital, overseeing requests to develop our IT system and implement new processes.

  • What are the major challenges facing your sector? And more specifically within Movianto France?

The main challenges of this decade for the pharmaceutical industry and businesses in general are the utilisation of Data and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their day-to-day activities.

As a major player in the distribution of healthcare products, we collect a certain amount of data that we need to be able to leverage as effectively as possible to create value. This means, first and foremost, guaranteeing the quality and security of the data collected, so that it can be transformed into intelligible information. Leveraging this information will, in the long term, enable us to anticipate customer needs and provide the best possible guidance for business strategy.

The integration of AI is also crucial because it offers companies the ability to innovate in their technologies and their businesses, enabling them to remain competitive on the market. That’s why we plan to deploy certain AI functionalities within Movianto strating in 2025, including training our employees and integrating AI into our tools and processes.

  • What are your next projects? How will this affect our laboratory customers?

We’re currently working on a number of projects within the Digital Transformation department, including the roll-out of the Zendesk tool for our customer service department and the development of new functions for our Flexflow WMS (Warehouse Mangement System). These developments are designed to improve the experience of our customers through better monitoring of their activity, while facilitating the day-to-day work of our teams through standardised and optimised processes.

  • Can you tell us about your career before joining Movianto?

I’m an agricultural engineer by training and I’ve held various positions in the food industry, in commerce and above all in IT project management. I spent 13 years at Michelin before joining Movianto in 2023 as Project Manager, then quickly progressed to the position of Digital Transformation Director.

Astellas and Movianto: a strategic partnership aimed at achieving operational excellence in logistics

Astellas is a global life sciences company dedicated to the development of innovative products. As part of the product launches that have taken place over the last few years and those that may come in the future, Astellas has decided to invest in its supply chain.

Thierry Maillard, Customer Operations Area Lead at Astellas France, explains this strategic orientation: “In 2023, we launched a call for tenders linked to these launches to choose our logistics partner. We identified new expectations at all levels, in order to guarantee our customers a supply chain characterised by excellence“. Movianto won the tender, reinforcing its role as a preeminent partner after more than 10 years working with Astellas.

To meet the laboratory’s requirements, Movianto is offering Astellas a place at its new logistics site in Moussy-le-Neuf. This centre of excellence, dedicated to biotech, boasts over 34,000 m² of temperature-controlled storage space. The new quality processes and optimised procedures will enable Astellas to reach the new milestone the laboratory has set itself in terms of product distribution.

In addition, a new service called Walden Fast is currently being rolled out within Movianto, the aim of which is to provide complete visibility of the supply chain, and enhance optimisation and decision-making in relation to the distribution challenges faced by laboratories. Thierry Maillard adds, “To strengthen operational excellence, information feedback and data consolidation are essential.”

Another key element of Movianto’s proposition is  introduction of a management concept designed for high-value products: “autonomous teams“. This system of organisation and management is based on the development of employee responsibility and commitment to the products for which they are responsible.  “Having had the chance to try out this managerial approach myself, I have great faith in the effectiveness that this method will bring to the operational management of our distribution“, concludes Thierry Maillard.

The partnership between Astellas and Movianto has grown stronger over the years, thanks to close human relations. “Over time, we’ve got to know each other better, and today we’re in a better position to take the next steps towards achieving excellence in the service of patient health.”

Astellas and Movianto also share other common values, particularly in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Astellas is strongly committed to protecting the environment. The laboratory is illustrating its commitment with the construction of a new plant in Tralee Co. Kerry, Ireland, equipped with the latest technologies in terms of recycling and renewable energy production. The new plant is scheduled to open in 2028, in line with the same environmental requirements as the Killorglin* Co. Kerry plant, and is part of a wider plan involving initiatives at all our sites.

According to Thierry Maillard, “It made sense to integrate a site like Moussy C that is certified Very Good from BREEAM. This certification is in line with the actions taken by the Walden Group over many years. We are closely monitoring their commitments, and we are particularly impressed by the momentum they have created in terms of reporting and carbon neutrality.“

Movianto supports Grindeks laboratory in launching its business in France: meet Pierre Gervais

Founded in Latvia in 1946, Grindeks, a generics company, has grown steadily over the decades. Today, with four production plants in Europe and an ambitious development plan launched in 2020, Grindeks aims to be one of the top 100 pharmaceutical companies by 2030. This growth is based on vertical integration and the development of active ingredients, as well as the creation of several subsidiaries, including one in France.

At the head of the Grindeks-Kalceks France subsidiary, Pierre Gervais, Managing Director, shares his career path and the challenges he has faced: “In March 2024, I joined the Grindeks group with the mission of opening the French entity. At the same time, 29 other subsidiaries were set up around the world, notably in the United States, Canada and Europe. A year later, our products are ready to be launched on the French market and our team is starting to become well structured.“

The launch in France was not without its hurdles, not least because of the specificities and local regulations. “We needed a partner who could help us comply with French and European regulations. Thanks to the expertise of Movianto’s Marketing Authorisation Operations department, we were able to successfully navigate our way through these administrative procedures. Their flexibility and availability were crucial to achieving our objectives on time“, confides Pierre Gervais.

Movianto France’s Marketing Authorisation Operations department, headed by Fahmi Cherif, is made up of 10 people, including 6 pharmacists, with over 25 years’ experience. “This collaboration has been very rewarding for me and my team. We have been able to offer a tailor-made solution to Grindeks, taking into account their specific needs and committing ourselves to helping them achieve their objectives“, adds Fahmi Cherif.

The laboratory is now embarking on a new phase in its development, with the launch of distribution of its portfolio of more than 60 products for city and hospital use, scheduled for June 2025. “We understand the requirements and constraints of our customers. So we’re doing everything we can to simplify their access to our products by ensuring uniform distribution across the country. Our collaboration with Movianto was also initiated by positive feedback from our customers, recognising the reputation of our partner in the pharmaceutical market“, explains Pierre Gervais, who has over 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

At the same time, Movianto will continue to support Grindeks-Kalceks France in its growth through a full services contract, including storage, distribution, responding to calls for tender and invoicing. “It’s a real strength to be supported by a partner capable of handling all these services. This one-stop-shop proposition for the complete management of our supply chain enables us to concentrate on our core business and develop our company in the best possible way“, adds Pierre Gervais.

Against a backdrop of tight supply in Europe, Movianto is particularly proud to be working with laboratories such as Grindeks, which concentrates 90% of its production in Europe and favours short distribution channels. Pierre Gervais concludes: “France is a tight market, with drug prices below the global average, while our production costs continue to rise. However, we are convinced that it is essential to continue producing in Europe in order to secure access to vital products throughout Europe.“
